NEW YORK, June 4, 2012 – Be & D and artist Trong Gia Nguyen announce the release of
their Big City sneaker collaboration in a special edition of 99 pairs, each decorated with
the silhouette of an iconic high heel pump covered in 24karat gold leaf. The shoes will
be available online and in select stores, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Voter
Participation Center to register Americans for the upcoming elections.
In addition to hand-decorating the sneakers and signing them, Nguyen also designed
the special shoebox that is itself an original work of art. The graffiti shoebox magically
transforms into a two-sided picket sign paying tribute to the upcoming presidential
elections. Appropriating the catchy slogan “All for one and one for all,” Nguyen succinctly
encapsulates the campaign in spray paint..
The 99 will be available on the Be & D website and in selected stores. A select number will
also be auctioned off on Ebay starting June 18.
“ALL FOR ONE – ONE FOR ALL” tote bags, t-shirts and unfolded prints are also available
separately, with a portion of these proceeds also going to the VPC.
The Voter Participation Center drives voter registration of critical under-represented
constituencies. It costs the Voter Participation Center only $6 to add a voter to the rolls, and
only $9 for each additional registrant actually casting a ballot in 2012.
